The Railway Budget of India has just been presented in the Parliament by Railway Minister, Nitish Kumar. As expected, it has been a populist budget with no increase in passenger fares or freight rates. With general elections coming up soon, no wonder we see the word "reduced" very liberally used in the budget.

Can the General Budget be any different?
