Today is World Environment Day.

World Environment Day (WED) is an United Nations initiative that is commemorated each year on 5^th June to stimulate environmental awareness among people worldwide. Each year, the UN selects an environmental issue and sets it as a theme for that year's WED. This year, the theme selected is Water - Two Billion People are Dying for It!. The theme supports United Nations' International Year of Freshwater, 2003. This year's theme calls on the people to conserve and safeguard the most precious source of life on our planet - water.
